Story

Anu Gaekwad (Madhu Sapre), Sheila Bardez (Padma Lakshmi) and Rina (Katrina Kaif) are three of India's top models. A prestigious diamond fashion show goes wrong and, inadvertently, they become embroiled in a jewelry heist. While on the runway, one of the models intentionally trips Anu — a model's worst nightmare. Anu's supportive friends, Sheila and Rina, come to the rescue. The trio confronts the model who tripped Anu and, soon thereafter, as the ladies get into a scuffle, they are met with a big surprise. Hundreds of glittering stolen diamonds, which were due to be smuggled out of the country, fall from the model's hair and on to the ramp only to be snatched up by paparazzi and celebrities alike.

Anu, Sheila and Rina are in shock as the fashion show turns to mayhem. The stolen diamonds are priceless antiques and have to be recovered by the gangsters, who hold the three glamorous models responsible for the heist-gone-wrong. The diamonds were due to be smuggled to Dubai and were stolen by Chhote Mia (Jackie Shroff). They were then to be handed to his brothers. The leader of the trio, Bade Mia (Amitabh Bachchan) is determined to get the diamonds back and so begins a cat and mouse game between the three models and the three gangsters. Who will succeed in outwitting the others?

Did you know?

1. Amitabh Bachchan wasn't paid his salary until the film released - he had to threaten to take the producers to court before he was paid.
2. 'Pooja Bhatt' was the joint partner who was suppose to be producing the film with Ayesha Shroff, but she opted out of the project before it took off.
3. First Hindi film to shoot in the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.
4. Naseeruddin Shah was the original choice for Bade Mia's character, he declined the role as he felt the script was weak; Amitabh Bachchan was roped in to replace him.
5. The shooting was complete in 63 days.
6. A lot of hype was generated before the release of Boom - however, the movie failed and a periodical called its review "Boom goes bust".
7. Amitabh Bachchan was criticized for doing such a raunchy role.
8. Before the film released Katrina Kaif said, "The 'Boom'' movie was a mistake." When she was asked in an interview why she felt this, she responded, "It was nothing to do with the film or the film makers, I made an uninformed decision. I was not aware of the film industry and Indian culture"
