Story

British intelligence comes over to India and loot all its wealth and carry it over to there country. Once they were being challenge by a brave king name Raja Azaad Singh, one day he happen to confront them and take them over to Lady Elena where some justice was being thought to them but they turn back and attack Azaad Singh on his back and he was wounded on his left arm. He contact Dr. Harry and was again attack but this time he sent away his wife and new born baby son by putting a mark on his arm. Fearing that the baby may fall into the British arm his mother decides to leave him into an orphanage. Later on the boy grows up and was called Mard with intelligence to protect his own country, a woman name Jamuna and her husband brought him up. On a chance encounter he happen to meet up with beautiful and charming Ruby on a mischap and later on found out it was Dr. Harry's daughter, on a strange incident both Ruby and Mard falls in love. But her father had other plans for her to marry slave master and stone hearted Danny who harasses Ruby and Mard alot but soon he meet up with a slave and later on found out that it was his mother. He happen to meet up with another slave too later in which he had to fight and the two found out that it was father and son because of the mark on Mard's arm since childhood. They had to fight in order to impress the British. But because of a horse name "Badal" and a wonder dog name "Moti" they were able to eliminate the British and saves the country's future.

Did you know ?

 Dimple Kapadia was initially offered the role of Ruby, but her salary demands proved to be a stumbling block. She was replaced by Amrita Singh, a newcomer who had made her acting debut in Betaab (1983)

Story

Kishan, an overworked and underpayed film actor, after a series of complications and mishaps, is embroiled with a dangerous gangster family and ends up framed for murder. While in prison he meets his long-lost brother, Karan, a former police constable also imprisoned for murder, where they help out each other to get revenge against the same gang they hold a grudge against. Although Security Guard Kapil Kumar Khanna was killed on duty by criminal elements, his wife, Durga, blames his death on the elder of her two sons, Karan, beats him severely, and throws him out of her house. She spends the rest of her life looking for him, as well as caring for her younger son, Kishan. Years fly by and there is no sign of Karan returning home. Kishan has now grown up, is star-struck and would like to act in movies, much to his mother's disappointment. She is, however, satisfied when he lands a job, and introduces her to Anuradha Saxena, who he hopes to marry someday. Durga does not know that Karan is still alive and is a Police Inspector. She also does not know that both her sons are destined to spend their time in jail. For Karan has been charged with killing Vijay, the son of Police Commissioner Sinha - his sentence life in prison without any parole; while Kishan has been charged with killing a woman by the name of Lucy - and his sentence is death.

Story

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and a peg of brandy instead of a glass milk, Vicky Kapoor, the only son of multi-millionaire industrialist, Amarnath, grows up to be an alcoholic, albeit with a good heart. Amarnath has detached himself completely from Vicky's life, and provides him money in lieu of affection and care, living this to be taken care off by Munshi Phoolchand. Vicky is very resentful of being ignored by his dad in this manner, and leaves no stone unturned to mock and belittle him at every available opportunity. Amarnath hopes to get his son married, but Vicky loves the daughter of a poor blind man, Meena, which is not acceptable to Amarnath. One day Amarnath decides he has had enough and decides to turn Vicky out of his house. He has him sign waivers, and asks him to get out, which Vicky does so. While Vicky is relieved of being freed from his dad's control, the question remains that with no skills at making a living, how is Vicky to survive in a cold-hearted world?

Did you know?

1. The director decided not to dub the anti-climax scene of Munshi's death as they felt very emotional after Amitabh's performance.
2. In 1983, Amitabh Bachchan suffered a mishap during the Diwali celebrations when he burnt his left hand. As a result, he was seen keeping his left hand in his pocket, which became a style of his character.
3. In the song "Mujhe Naulakha Mangwa De Re", when Amitabh Bachchan hit the ghungroo on his left hand, his real blood was shown and it was not artificial colour.

Story

Street-wise and poor, Amar Nath makes a living selling cinema tickets and fast-food snacks (Bhel Puri) outside cinema halls. He is taken under the wing of a politician and Chair of the "Garibon Ki Party', Shankar Narayan, allowed to join the Police Academy, and returns as a Police Inspector. He falls in love and gets married to Asha, the only daughter of multi-millionaire businessman, Sitaram. When he successfully apprehends and kills a terrorist by the name of Anil Raj, he is promoted as the Assistant Commisisoner of Police. Asha shares his joy, and soon both are informed that they will soon be proud parents. Then Amar also apprehends and kills a smuggler by the Koya Koya Atachi, and gets immensely popular with the public, so much so that Shankar Narayan resigns and asks Amar to be the Chair of the political party, which Amar accepts and quits his job from the Police Force. It is then that pregnant Asha finds out that Amar is not who he claims to be but is a pawn in the hands of skilled politicians - who have been using him as their hit-man, and now are ready to use him as the Chief Minister so that they can carry on with their nefarious activities. Watch what Asha does to prevent Amar from influencing their newborn son, and from attaining power.

Did you know?

1. While the movie was being filmed, in an unrelated accident, Amitabh Bachchan had a firecracker go off in his hand. Surgical correction was incomplete during the rest of the filming, so he wears a handkerchief or hides his hand in many scenes.
2. The film released in 1984 when Amitabh had in real life too joined politics like in this film.

Story

A wealthy, but evil man named Zafar Khan (Kader Khan), has fallen in love with a girl named Salma (Waheeda Rahman) and wants to marry her, but she and her father do not let him. Zafar is arrested for various crimes and is imprisoned for 10 years, but when he is discharged, he sees that Salma is married to a good man named Aslam Khan (Satyendra Kapoor). Zafar Khan, wants to convince Salma to marry him but Salma refuses. Zafar plots his revenge by flooding the region in which Salma lives in, killing her father, injuring Aslam and Salma, causing her to lose her memory. During this catastrophe, Salma is also separated from her young son, Iqbal (Amitabh Bachchan). Zafar abducts Salma and tells the world she is his wife. He also adopts an infant from an orphanage in Kanpur, a boy named Sunny (Rishi Kapoor), for Salma to raise on the advice of a psychiatrist. Meanwhile, Iqbal is reunited with his uncle, who has lost his wife and son in the flood. The uncle will raise Iqbal as his own, as they have no more family.

Years pass, and Iqbal and his uncle work as coolies. Iqbal has grown up to a be a dashing, confident young man, and is considered the leader of the local coolies. He organizes a labor strike, which brings the station to its knees. Sunny, a young, budding reporter, is covering the story. While speaking to Sunny, Iqbal sees a picture of Sunny's mother who turns out to be Salma. Iqbal rushes to Salma's house to see her after all these years, but upon meeting her son, she has no recollection of him. Zafar is infuriated by Iqbal's trespass and has his guards severely beat him, while he takes Salma to the psychiatrist to administer electric shocks on her so that her memory never returns.

Iqbal and Sunny become friends, and both find love; Iqbal with a Christian girl Julie D'Costa (Rati Agnihotri) and Sunny with his childhood sweetheart, Deepa (Shoma Anand). Things are looking up, but the coolies uncover a banking and housing scandal against them. After a series of run-ins with the corrupt parties, Iqbal finds himself in a fight to the death with Zafar. Salma returns at a very pivotal scene in the film, with her old memories intact and she publicly testifies against Zafar and how he destroyed her family. In the crowd is an old man, who turns out to be Iqbal's long-lost father. Also, Iqbal's uncle recognizes a birthmark on Sunny, proving that Sunny was indeed the son he thought he had lost in the great flood. The family is reunited, much to the fury of Zafar. Iqbal is shot several times by Zafar, but he manages to throw Zafar off a building, killing him instantly. Coolies from all faiths pray hard for his recovery, and Iqbal recovers from his injuries.

Did you know?

1. While filming an action scene, Amitabh Bachchan was doing his own stunts. He had to fall onto a table and then on the ground. But when he jumped towards the table, the corner of the table hit his abdomen. He had a splenic rupture and lost a large amount of blood. He was flown out and needed urgent operation (splenectomy) and was critically ill for a while. A rumor spread that he had died from the accident. The nation (most of it anyway) mourned. Later there were mile-long queues of well-wishing fans outside the hospital where he was recuperating.
2. During the fighting scene where Amitabh Bachchan was injured, the moment is marked with a freeze frame, and a message is displayed in English, Hindi, and Urdu - "This is the shot in which AMITABH BACHCHAN was seriously injured".
3. A poster of the movie Gopichand Jasoos appears in the background of the railway platform when Iqbal has his first fighting encounter with Vicky. Gopichand Jasoos starred Raj Kapoor who is the father of 'Rishi kapoor' who plays the role of Sunny in Coolie.
4. Manmohan Desai originally proposed a sad ending for the film. Amitabh was to die in the climax, but it was decided that after Amitabh's real-life fight with death during the shoot, the audience would not accept his death in the movie. So the climax was changed and a happy ending was shot.

Story

Although India obtained freedom from the British in 1947, Goa and it's territories are still ruled by the Portuguese. A group of revolutionaries want a free Goa and are thus wanted by the Portuguese administration. Amongst them are Purandare, Narvekar, and Dinanath, and when Dinanath's whereabouts are known to the police, he escapes with his young son, Ramdas, and goes to their hideout. With the assistance of Purandare they do manage to escape but are shot. A horrified Ramdas watches as his dad is shot dead by Purandare. This is how Ramdas starts hating revolutionaries. Ramdas changes his name to Ronnie, befriends a girl named Julie, and grows up taking to crime as his career. He soon prospers and lets the villagers also prosper with him. Then when the Police Commissioner is shot dead, Ronnie helps the authorities to apprehend his killer, who is a young man named Shekhar, who is arrested, tried in Court, and sentenced to be hanged. It is at this point Ronnie will find out that the people he had assisted in the past are all against him and sympathize with the revolutionaries. Angered, he grabs a gun to kill Shekhar's parents - and it is here that Ronnie will find out who they really are - and why Purandare shot his dad.

Story

Vikram (Amjad Khan) is arrested for possession of drugs, but claims that he was framed by Rajan (Sujit Kumar), his associate, but no one believes him. Desperately he turns to his lawyer friend, Vikram, only to have himself prosecuted at his very hands. Vikram gets sentenced, and upon his release goes to Amit and asks him to negotiate to get him his share of their former business from Rajan. Amit agrees to do so, but the negotiation gets bitter, argument ensues, followed by fisticuffs and use of firearms, which lead to the death of Rajan. It is now Amit's turn to be on the run from the law, as his pleas that he acted in self-defense are ignored, and there is no one to turn to for help. Amit's pregnant wife, Janki, asks him to run away somewhere safe, while she re-locates to another city until his file is closed or set aside. Amit runs to nearby Nepal, while Janki gives birth to twins. Unfortunately, for her the twins and her get separated. She does manage to find Shankar, but there is no trace of Guru. With one son missing, her husband on the run from the law, and having to take care of an infant, how will Janki overcome life's odds on her own?

Story

Jan Nissar Akhtar Khan works as a Forest Officer, and lives with his wife Zakhiya. One day while on duty he comes across some poachers who were cutting sandal wood trees illegally. When challenged, they retaliate, a struggle ensues, and one of them, Ram Gupta, gets killed. Khan is charged with killing him, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in prison. His shocked and devastated wife kills herself. Years later, an angry and embittered Khan is released from prison. One day he comes across another young man, Vijay Singh, and finds out that he is struggling with taking vengeance against two men who had traumatized and killed some of his family members, and decides to help him. It is then Khan finds out that Gupta is still alive and decides to kill him, quite dramatically in the same courtroom where he was convicted for his murder. Watch how this action will effect Khan's future, and Vijay's plan for avenging his family.

Story

Shankar (Amitabh Bachchan) grows up as a Nastik (athiest) because his father got murdered by Tiger and his mother and sister got torched in their house and blamed God for doing nothing. After his father, mother and sister got killed, he decided to bring justice himself and the child Shankar went to the palace of Tiger but instead of killing, he blind him. When he grows up, he went to have a career of stealng other people's property. He join forces with Balbir (Pran) and Gauri (Hema Malini). At one time, he was shot by Tiger (Amjad Khan) for stealing his goods and then in an attempt to hide, he found his mother, who he thought was dead in that fire. Incidedntally, Balbir saved Shankar's sister who was chased by Tiger's men as she went outside to bring medicine for her mother. When Shankar went to bring medicine for the mother, he finally told her that he was the long lost son and the family were finally reunited. Shankar found out from his sister that the enemy who he thought had killed, actually was alive. He decided to finish him once and for all. Does he succeed in his quest for revenge? Does he finally start to believe God?

Story

Retired Commissioner Ashwini Kumar (Dilip Kumar) is on a railway station to receive his teenager grandson Ravi (Anil Kapoor). On being asked by his grandfather about his future plans, Ravi promptly replies that he wants to become a police officer and serve his country, just like his grandfather. Kumar tells him that the journey of a police personal life is fraught with many challenges and so he must reconsider his decision. Kumar starts by explaining his own story.

Kumar goes in flashback, back to the days when he was an Inspector. Kumar had a happy family consisting, him his wife Sheetal (Raakhee) and son Vijay. Ashwini takes cudgels against a dreaded gangster named J.K. Verma (Amrish Puri). He arrests a key henchman of J.K. and is about to challenge J.K.'s supremacy. J.K. takes the matters in his hands and abducts Vijay.

J.K. tries to strike a deal with Kumar: set his henchman free and he will spare Vijay's life. Kumar, an honest cop who will give any sacrifice tells J.K. on the phone that even if his only son is killed in the process, he will not betray the law. Unknown to him, an abducted Vijay is also listening to this conversation. He is shocked and pained to hear his father's words.

At that time, K.D.Narang (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), another goon in J.K.'s gang, helps Vijay to escape after he has a fight with his boss. Soon the police find J.K.'s hideout where he hid Vijay, but Vijay is missing. J.K. and K.D. become sworn enemies. Vijay returns home, but his actions indicate that the damage has already been done.

As Vijay grows, his hatred for his father grows too. A young Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) is an antithesis to his father, espousing every wrong thing his father dislikes. He finally has a fall-out with his father and leaves home. Vijay soon becomes a known name in the underworld. By chance or destiny, Vijay joins K.D., who has become a rival, an equal for J.K.

Vijay gladly accepts to work with the man he perceives as the person to whom he owes his life. With K.D.'s help, Vijay starts climbing the crime ladder even faster. J.K. cannot help but notice that Kumar's son has become a notorious gangster, just as he cannot help noticing that the alliance of Vijay and K.D. has made his life of crime even harder. J.K. decides to remove his thorns before they suck the blood out of him and his business.

Meanwhile, Vijay meets and falls in love with Roma Devi (Smita Patil), a single woman. They start living together, without marriage. Sheetal tries to persuade her son to leave the path of wrong, but in vain. Later, Roma reveals to Vijay that she is pregnant with his child. Vijay decides to marry her.

J.K. hires a sharpshooter to kill Kumar. Instead, Sheetal gets killed trying to shield her husband. Vijay is enraged and starts hunting for J.K.'s head. J.K. has already perceived this and made all arrangements to leave the country. K.D. too plans to leave the country with Vijay. K.D. convinces Vijay that if he kills J.K., the whole city's police will start hunting him and so he should get out of the country as fast as he can.

Kumar has learnt about Roma and her pregnancy from Sheetal before her death. Kumar and his team learn of J.K. and K.D.'s plans. Vijay kills J.K.'s goons who try to kill him and ultimately succeeds in killing J.K. before he leaves the country. Meanwhile, Kumar succeeds in foiling K.D.'s attempt to flee the country. At this time, he learns that Vijay was going after JK.

Kumar succeeds to track down Vijay, who has just killed JK. Kumar tries to stop him, but in vain. A teary-eyed Kumar lifts his pistol and pulls the trigger. Vijay falls down just before he can reach the plane stairs. Kumar rushes towards him and in a tearful conversation, Vijay realizes his mistake and asks forgiveness. Vijay dies in Kumar's arms. Kumar later takes Roma with him.

Kumar cuts to the present and asks again to Ravi whether he wants to follow that dream. Ravi, on hearing the story, firmly says that his answer would still be "yes". Kumar and Roma give Ravi their blessings. Ravi takes a train and leaves, signifying that he would become an officer in the future.

Story

Govind (Amitabh Bachchan) and Rajesh (Vinod Mehra) are two brothers who are happy being brought up by their considerably older stepbrother Hari (Sanjeev Kumar). However, when Hari has to leave home for two months to complete his law degree, his newly married wife Seema (Tanuja), jealous of her husband's excessive affection for the two, misbehaves with them, forcing them to leave home and escape to Mumbai.

After days spent doing menial labour, the two brothers are finally given a home by the widower Rahim, who has a son Anwar and daughter Farida. Govind takes on the responsibility of providing for his brother's education by becoming the taxi-driver Chhotu Ustad. Rajesh, however, is ambitious and foppish, and spurns his brother and the latter's pride by marrying the rich Seth Verma's daughter Manju (Bindiya Goswami) and staying at his father-in-law's mansion.

Verma's brother Bansi (Prem Chopra), who has actually been instrumental in fixing up this marriage, employs the unsuspecting Rajesh to carry on a drug-smuggling trade using the vehicles of he Verma Transport Company, owned by the Seth. One such operation is foiled by the police, and Anwar, also mixed up in his business, is left seriously injured. Bansi's men attempt to kidnap Anwar to destroy evidence when Govind is not at home. In the skirmish that ensues, Rahim is shot fatally.

In the aftermath of the tragedy and Rajesh's realisation of how he has been used by Bansi, Rajesh seeks his brother's mercy. However, at this very moment, Bansi murders Seth Verma and tries to frame Rajesh for it. However, it is Govind who is found at the scene of the crime and accused of murder. The judge at his trial is Hari, who is now one of the leading legal eagles in the city. In the course of the trial, the real identity of the accused and his brother are revealed to Hari. Hari now steps down as judge and defends Govind. Through a series of astute investigations, he unearths the truth. Bansi, cornered, attempts to shoot Hari and escapes the courtroom, but is finally tracked down by Govind in his beloved taxi 'Basanti'. As the smuggler is arrested, the three brothers are reconciled.

Story

Young Arjun (Amitabh Bachchan) is brought up by his Daddu (Om Prakash). His Daddu decides for him to go to the city in search of a new job and life. While in the city he meets up with Bhairon (Ram P. Sethi) who guides him into finding a job as a servant in a 5-star hotel owned by Raja (Shashi Kapoor). While in the hotel, Arjun meets Poonam (Smita Patil) and falls in love with her. During this time, many attempts are made to kill Raja by the one and only Girdar Singh (Satyendra Kapoor) and his son Ranjeet (Ranjeet). All these attempts are thwarted by Arjun. Story

Master Dinanth (Amitabh Bachchan) is a freedom fighter and led the war against the British in 1942 and eventually won the independence in 1947. But after independence, the people's love for their country seems to be diminishing and they are too busy betraying it like rich businessman Thakur Pratab Singh (Amjad Khan). Masterji finds out about Thakur Pratab Singh's illegal activities such as smuggling of weapons and ammunition and gets him arrested. In revenge for putting him in prison, Pratab Singh gets Masterji's wife Bharati (Sharmila Tagore) and daughter Priti (Parveen Babi) kidnapped by Thakur's partner in crime Sher Singh (Kader Khan) to try and change his ways but to no avail. Thakur also provokes an attack on Masterji's home by the local villagers who accuse Dinanath of betraying his country and he is forced to flee his home with his young son Raju. His wife becomes a victim of leprosy and escapes from Sher Singh leaving her daughter Priti in a friend's care. Masterji is informed that his wife and daughter could be dead as they find a necklace of hers near the train tracks. Masterji is devastated by his wife and daughter's loss and he and his son move on with their life. They settle into a slum called Bharat Nagar which is divided in 4 sections with a don in each one of different backgrounds: Punjabi (Shammi Kapoor), Madrasi (Premnath). Bengali (Uttam Kumar) and Muslim (Parikshat Sahni). All of them love their own section but nobody thinks of themselves as Indian except Masterji. Masterji sets out trying to bring peace between the four dons and once they settle their differences the four underworld dons use the Masterji's stay in Bharat Nagar to cover up their own illegal activities. Fast Forward to 15 years later the year is 1962 and Masterji's now grown-up son Raju (also Amitabh Bachchan) turns out to be the opposite of his father by being draw into the underworld committing crimes to earn money with his father unaware of what he does. He starts working for Thakur Pratab Singh unaware that Thakur had once kidnapped his mother and sister many years earlier which caused their separation. Will Raju find out what Thakur did to his family, will Master Dinanath find out his son is not what he thinks he is? and will Master ever find his wife and daughter again?

Story

It is a remake of Uttam Kumar's Bengali classic Ami Se O Shakha (1975),which was also based on the Bengali story of the same name by Ashutosh Mukherjee. When a deprived boy, bought up in a privileged family and indebted for virtually everything he has, lends in a perplexing situation, the life seems unfair to him. There are very few who actually appreciate benevolence showered on them. When it comes to repay such debt, many of us try to find excuse to avoid the difficult situation. But the protagonist of this movie is a noble individual, an ideal hero, who knows that everything he has in life, is owed to a family and when he finds himself in a situation where he has to give up his love and profession, he doesn't look back.

Story

After the passing away of their parents, Ravi Anand, the eldest of seven brothers, takes it upon himself to raise them - albeit a little wild and kinda animal-like. The brothers all sport long beards, hate taking showers/baths, and above all hate Ravi bossing them around. When Ravi tries to convince Nurse Sheela to marry his friend, Shekar, he mistakenly lectures the wrong girl, Indu, and as result Ravi falls head over heels in love with her. But Indu is not available to marry any stinky creep, who has not washed himself in weeks, so Ravi shaves, washes, dresses up smart, successfully woos Indu and marries her. After the marriage, Indu is shocked when she gets to meet the rest of his terrifying brothers, all the more when Ravi did not even mention that he had more than one brother. Nevertheless, Indu decides to make a go of this marriage, instills some sense and responsibility amongst the brother and soon becomes pregnant. Then her wheel-chair bound friend, Seema Singh, and five of her girlfriends come over to stay with them, resulting in some more changes taking place, this time with the rest of the brothers - who too smarten up like Ravi and start wooing Seema's friends. Then one day Ravi is abducted by Seema's paternal uncle, Ranjit Singh and his men, and held in an underground cellar on an isolated island. The person who takes Ravi's place is his look-alike, an ex-convict, Babu. His mission to find Seema and kill her so that Ranjit can claim her inheritance, and if necessary, kill anyone else who dares to oppose him.

Story

Kallu (Amitabh Bachchan) lives with his older brother (Kadar Khan), sister-in-law (Asha Parekh), and their little daughter. He spends his time idly playing with the neighbour's kids. His older brother gets into accident at work at the mill and loses his arms. He loses his job and needs money for treatment. Kaalia begs his brother's boss (Amjad Khan), but he refuses. Kaalia breaks into the boss' safe to get the money but it's too late as the brother dies. The boss throws Kaalia in jail for nine months. This is where he meets the men that teach him crime (kallu se kalia ka safar shuro hota hai). After his release, Kaalia is a different, stronger man. He and his accomplices steal the gold that the boss had been smuggling at the mill. Then he burns down the mill as retribution for his brother's death. He goes to jail again, this time for 2 years. His accomplices lie to his sister-in-law by telling her that he is in America earning a lot of money for her and her daughter. They move from poverty into riches. In jail, Kaalia meets the warden (Pran), a smart, ethical, strong man, whose daughter was kidnapped by one of the prisoners when she was little. After Kaalia is released from prison, he is bent on seeking vengeance and eventually pairs up with a woman (Parveen Babi). The boss kidnaps Kaalia's niece and forces her mother to testify against Kaalia in a murder trial. He is found guilty for a murder he didn't commit and escapes from prison to find his niece. At first, the warden chases him and once he knows the true story, decides to help him. They go to the boss's place and not only find the little girl but also the sister-in-law about to die. The boss reveals to the warden that he was the one who had kidnapped his daughter 20 years ago and now it's the grown up Parveen Babi's character. They fight with him and the boss gets beaten up badly. Everyone lives happily after.

The song "Jahan Teri Ye Nazar Hai" was filmed on the sets of Namak Halal (1982), another Amitabh Bachchan Blockbuster. This was due to financial and time constraints.

Story

Young Bishan Kumar lives a wealthy lifestyle with his widowed mom, his best friend, Kishan, a former servant cum cook, and both are virtually inseparable. Bishan's uncle was partly responsible for his dad's death, and after serving a long prison sentence, begs his sister to forgive him, which she does, and he, along with his son, Jagdish, move in to the house. He convinces his sister to permit Bishan to go to Bombay for further studies, and then abroad also. Years later, Bishan returns home to renew his friendship bond with Kishan, and also introduce him to his wife, Sheela, and son, Munna. When Bishan finds out that Kishan has a golden voice, he wants him to start training in Bombay with Bharatji, which Kishan reluctantly does. After he finishes his training, he goes forth with his first concert, which is a huge success and becomes a star overnight. It is then he finds out that Bishan has lost everything, his wife and son have left him, and his uncle and cousin had embezzled all the money. Kishan uses his only asset, his voice, to restore Bishan's glory only to find out that a desperate Bishan has abducted a group of school-girls, abroad a yacht that he used to own, demanding huge ransoms from their respective parents. Subsequently, Kishan learns that Bishan is dead. Unable to handle this shock, Kishan loses his mental balance and is hospitalized. The question remains, what compelled Bishan to abduct the school-girls, and how did Bishan actually die?

Did you know?

1. During the the song 'Saara Zamaana', the light bulb outfit went on and off via a switch which was firmly placed in Amitabh Bachchan's hand. He had to press the switch on-off in tune with the beat of the song. The mastermind behind this idea of the outfit was Amitabh Bachchan himself.
2. Herp Alpert's disco instrumental hit RISE is used in the film. The song plays when Amitabh Bachchan is being trained to dance by Neetu Singh. The sequence is still regarded as one of the highlights of the film.

Story

Orphaned at very young ages, Shekhar Malhotra (Shashi Kapoor) and Amit Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan) are survivors and lead independent lives with Shekhar being a Squadron Leader with the Indian Air Force, and Amit a emerging writer. Shekhar has fallen in love with lovely Shobha (Jaya Bachchan), while Amit woos attractive Chandni (Rekha). Amit finds professional success in as playwright in Delhi with a successful premier and launch in the literati circles. This decisively wins Chandni for Amit, and they share a brief courtship period, and affairs couldn't be better.

Chandni's parents almost arrange her wedding when they learn of her love for Amit. Both brothers plan to marry together. But fate has something much worse in store for them when Shekhar is killed in a plane crash, leaving behind a pregnant and devastated Shobha. Taking pity on Shobha's plight, Amit marries her and writes to Chandni to forget him. This news breaks Chandni's heart, and she goes on to marry Dr. V.K. Anand (Sanjeev Kumar), who is very much in love with her.

Tragedy strikes once more, and Shobha loses her child in a car accident. With no child to tie them together, Amit and Shobha drift apart. Amit happens to meet Chandni and they secretly rekindle their romance. They meet on the sly, until one day when Chandni accidentally hits a passerby. The police get involved, but Amit manages to hush the matter up. But their secret meetings will no longer be secret anymore for the police inspector in charge of this accident is none other than Shobha's cousin (played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda), who is determined to expose Amit's affair with Chandni. Soon Amit decides that he can no longer continue this loveless marriage and wishes to reconcile with Chandni. This news shatters Shobha but she does not lose hope. She believes that if her love is true he will return to her. Amit and Chandni leave town to start a new life elsewhere but tragedy strikes. Dr. Anand's plane crashes causing both to return to the wreckage site. There Amit is confronted with Shoba who in a fit of emotions reveals that she is expecting his child. There Chandni herself realises her love for her husband. The film ends with a song portraying Amit and Shoba living happily with a message "Love is faith and faith is forever".

1. There were several cast changes for this movie. The original star cast was Amitabh Bachchan, Padmini Kolhapure and Parveen Babi. Then Smita Patil replaced Padmini Kolhapure before finalising with Jaya Bhaduri and Rekha, who had been recommended by Amitabh Bachchan.

Story

Wealthy Prince Ragbeer Singh shares a secret relationship with well-known singer Miss. Vidhya. When Ragbeer learns that Vidhya is pregnant with his child, he walks away from the relationship. A devastated Vidhya gives birth to a baby boy and passes away, leaving the baby to be taken care of by an alcoholic named Gangu Ganpat. The boy grows up in a poor environment and is named after a stray dog, Hira. Hira seeks employment in a bar and is paid the right amount for his services; but his hard earn money is been blown away by Gangu on liquor. Story

A young blind woman named Rajni lives in India with her dad, Suresh, who is employed as a Manager with a business marketing tea leaves. The region where they live has a lax police force run by Inspector Sammar, who is controlled by a wealthy contractor, Hariya Sahu, and his son, Kaliram. Hariya and Kaliram control and terrorize the people to such an extent that one day they get together and complain to their employer, who in turn speaks with the D.S.P., who assures them that he will take a personal interest in this matter. Shortly thereafter, Inspector Abhijeet Rai makes his appearance, in virtually no time at all he arrests Kaliram, tries him in Court, and gets him sentenced to five years in prison. He then indefinitely suspends Sammar, falls in love and gets married to Rajni and they re-locate to another place, where they live a harmonious life with Rajni soon getting pregnant. The two then start planning for the appearance of the third member of their family when their lives are turned upside down as Kaliram, who has completed his sentence, has found them, and is all set to avenge himself at any and all costs.
