The story is about Anand Sehgal (Rajesh Khanna), a cancer (lymphosarcoma of the intestine) patient who believes in living his life to the fullest. He comes to Mumbai to live his last days there and to meet his friend Kulkarni (Ramesh Deo). Contrasting Anand is Bhaskar Banerjee (Amitabh Bachchan), a sober doctor, upset with life and the dark reality of his nation. Bhaskar's tête-à-tête with Anand makes him notice the colours behind all the despair and complexity in one's life and teaches him a lesson. After spreading happiness everywhere around himself and changing the lives of many, Anand, as destined, leaves them all, which inspires Bhaskar to write a book on his life.

The film is a narrative, as Bhaskar writes in his diary about his life before Anand, his first meeting, how his relationship with him changes from a doctor-patient to a friend and then to a friend for whom he can do anything, and how a dying man changes his way of thinking to a great extent.

Parwana  is a 1971 Bollywood thriller film directed by Jyoti Swaroop. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Navin Nischol, Yogeeta Bali and Om Prakash. One of the best film Amitabh Bachchan did till date. He has proved himself to be a fine actor through this film.

In this film, Amitabh Bachchan sir plays the role of an obsessed lover, which could be regarded as a model on which several other such roles were based, notably the one enacted by Shah Rukh Khan much later in Darr, Anjaam and to an extent in Baazigar. Several other actors in various movies have portrayed similar roles. Amitabh plays Kumar Sen, an artist by profession. He is in love with Asha (Yogeeta Bali). Asha wins a trip to Ooty in a dance competition, and falls in love with a wealthy tea plantation owner, Rajesh (Navin Nischol). When Kumar finds out, he goes to Asha's uncle, Ashok Verma (Om Prakash), and demands Asha's hand in marriage. When Ashok Verma fails to comply, Kumar kills him. The manner in which Kumar plans the murder is regarded as an immensely brilliant and engaging sequence. Kumar boards, exits and boards again, various modes of transport to avoid any possibilities of suspicion and finally frames Rajesh in the case and tries to win Asha's love. Asha, still in love with Rajesh, promises Kumar to stay with him forever, if he can get Rajesh released from his death sentence. Unable to digest that, Kumar understands that Rajesh will always remain Asha's love. He writes down his confession, gives it to Rajesh, and shoots himself.

Saat Hindustani  is a 1969 film written and directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. The film portrays the heroic story of seven Indians who attempt to liberate Goa from the Portuguese colonial rule. The cast included Utpal Dutt, Madhu, A. K. Hangal and Amitabh Bachchan who made his debut with this film. Bachchan Sir  played one of the Indians captured by the enemy nation as POW. He played the role of a Muslim poet.

A Muslim poet Anwar Ali (Amitabh Bachchan) hails from Bihar and five other men, all belonging from different religions and different parts of India join their seventh comrade Maria (Shehnaz), a native of Portuguese-occupied Goa, to raise nationalist sentiments in that state by hoisting Indian flag on Portuguese forts and buildings.
